Meet the Chao Family

The Chao family is the heart and soul of Z Deli Marketplace, a beloved community staple. In 2023, when Z Deli Marketplace went up for sale, Danny and Lena Chao, long-time patrons, saw an opportunity to preserve the store's integrity and importance to the community. Along with their two children, Lindsey and Devin, the Chao family took on the challenge of running the store to ensure it continued to thrive.

At Z Deli Marketplace, every member of the Chao family plays an integral role in the store's day-to-day operations. Their collective effort ensures that the store remains a cornerstone of the community, providing quality products and exceptional service. The Chao family's commitment to maintaining the store's legacy and fostering a welcoming environment makes Z Deli Marketplace more than just a store—it’s a cherished part of the community.

Meet Lisa Baldwin

Lisa is the heart and soul of Z Deli Marketplace, serving as the store manager and operator since 2012. Her welcoming, positive, and caring energy creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that customers and staff alike cherish. "We were impressed by the selection inside covering all the necessities from bathroom supplies to quick deli options and plenty of snacks. Prices were also very fair. We also saw that they had a deli for sandwiches and made pizzas to order so we had to try one, right?

The pepperoni pizza was definitely a great choice. The crust was crisp and had a nice chew. Cheese was ooey gooey and they were generous with the pepperoni. "

"The most convenient option for a quick sandwich or bottle of wine if you're in Tahoe Donner - and, fortunately, very very good. The staff is always super friendly, it's easy to park, solid wine and beer selection, and the sandwiches are always freshly made and well prepared.

They have most items you'd find in a convenient store as well, which can save you a drive down the hill in a pinch. I feel very fortunate to have this establishment located so conveniently in Tahoe Donner!"
